Ok, almost there. Thanks for bearing with me. Here's another beautiful sunrise. Again, not by me.
In the mornings, they rake the beach.
This is David and Noah waiting for the ferry.
More waiting...decided an ice cream cone at 10am was needed. Bad idea since the chocolate ended up on his shirt.
On the ferry on the way home. I don't know why I'm smiling...Noah has the right expression.
GOODBYE MEXICO.
I wish I could say that we flew home, no problems, end of story. But that wasn't the case. When we got to the Cancun airport, the line to check in at Continental was crazy long. It ended up taking us about an hour and a half to get through it. Thank goodness we got there early enough. The next problem was that the flight was delayed over an hour. That combined with having to go through customs and baggage in Houston meant that we would miss our connection to St. Louis. When we got to the front of the line, she said there was no other flights that night to St. Louis, so we would have to get a hotel. Great. Thankfully Continental provided the hotel and meal vouchers, but still. Then they booked us on the first flight in the morning. So we get to Houston ok, go through all the chaos of customs, which was complicated by the fact that David left something on the plane. We get our bags and go to get our vouchers and then head to the hotel.
The hotel was fine, but it wasn't home. Noah slept with Papa that night to give Mommy and Daddy a little break to go to the pool that night. The next morning, we were up bright and early at 4am to get on the shuttle to the airport. That flight was painless, it was only maybe 1/2 full. We arrived safely back in St. Louis at 9:30. Home at last. We were pretty exhausted the rest of the day and even today, I'm still feeling the effects.
We took a few videos while we were there, so I'll work on getting those up later this week. Thanks for sharing in our vacation!
