I apologize for taking so long to continue our vacation. The second day we woke up and it was RAINING!!!! What!?!?! It can't rain on our vacation! We started the day by making some delicious pancakes and bacon that we had purchased the day before from the super market. They were pretty good. Something I had heard a lot about after researching our trip was something called Cochinita Pubil. Basically, it's pork marinated and cooked overnight and it's the most amazing thing I've ever tasted. You can only get it on Sundays, so David and my dad ventured out and got us some, enough to last most of the week (which was fantastic). They also got some really good fruits from the market. Of course, they had to make some guacamole.
Around noon, we decided to make something out of a rainy day. We purchased tickets on the ferry and headed over to Cancun. We had quite the journey getting into and out of Cancun. Apparently, you cannot take a regular bus from the ferry into the hotel zone, so we had to take a taxi which cost a little more than expected. Then to get back, you end up having to take a micro bus which went through downtown and was a bit sketchy, but we made it back. Here Noah is on the ferry over, raining outside. The dads on Father's Day.
Once in Cancun, we went to a mall (La Isla) and walked around for a bit. Here is Noah watching the jumping fountain.
Then we went to an interactive aquarium. I saw "interactive" lightly, because most of it was just observing, but it was still a lot of fun. Here is Noah and me through the jellyfish window.
Do you see the fish in this picture?? He's camouflaged to blend in with the sand.
I honestly don't know what is behind us. I think maybe a shark? But it's a good picture of us anyway. Look how wet we look from the rain!
Back in the mall area. Noah didn't care for those fountains. I think he was getting tired at this point.
We bought Noah a mexican rattle. He loved it until he threw it on the ground and it slightly broke.
I didn't get any pics of dinner, but we went to Bubba Gump's. I don't usually like to go to chain restaurants on vacation (I would rather try the local cuisine), but Cancun is filled with chain restaurants and really, we don't have a Bubba Gump's in St. Louis, so I allowed it. It ended up being a fabulous meal. And to top it off, David and my dad got their meals for free since it was Father's day -- SCORE!
We came back to the room to see this:
Awwww. Ready for another day...hopefully one where it isn't raining!
