1 week update

The Porter family has been doing well. We are all (including Buddy) adjusting to life with a newborn. Noah really is a good baby. It doesn't take much to quiet him when he is crying or upset. He also sleeps ALL the time. Most of the time we have been waking him to feed, otherwise, I think he would sleep all day. We have been letting him sleep during the night though, which is nice on us. His umbilical cord stump has almost fallen off. I really hope that I'm not there when it does, because I'm pretty sure I will throw up. It's so nasty!!!

Noah has been having some problems feeding. I've been trying to exclusively breastfeed, but it takes him like 15 to 30 minutes to latch on and then about 30 minutes of feeding, so on average, it takes an hour to feed. We went and saw a lactation consultant and she gave us some pointers, but also noticed that he has a high arched palate. We got a recommendation for a cranial sacral chiropractor and we set up an appointment next week. She should be able to do some adjustments to make things easier (we hope). Now that we know there is a problem, the feedings have been less frustrating, but they still take just as long.
