HELLO EVERYONE!
This will be my first entry here. I'll just give you our background first, in case you don't know that. David and I met in high school. We started dating in college in 2002. We were engaged in 2003 and married on June 10, 2006. We both graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO in December 2006 and moved back to the St. Louis area. We bought a house in Fenton, MO in April 2007. David is an IT Analyst at ATT and I am a tax accountant at BKD. We have a dog named Buddy, who is a 2 year old black lab and basset hound mix and we adore him!!
In June 2008, we decided it was time to start thinking about adding on to our family. I stopped using birth control and we both thought it would just happen. Boy, were we wrong! I had a 35 day cycle (kind of long, but still within "normal" ranges). Then I discovered fertility charting using my temperature taken each morning to show when I ovulate, etc. That was my second cycle and it lasted 112 days with no ovulation. Right when I started my third cycle, I went to my OB/GYN for an annual exam and clued him in on what was going on with my body. He said he thought I had something called PCOS and we would do some bloodwork to confirm. Sure enough, on Dec 2, I was confirmed with PCOS. This meant (other than a whole other list of symptoms) that it would be more difficult for me to conceive because I don't ovulate regularly. The treatment plan was prometrium (progesterone) to bring on my period, metformin to treat the insulin resistance that goes along with PCOS, and clomid (50mg) to try and make me ovulate. The prometrium worked and I was on to Cycle #4. I did everything that I was supposed to. I even took some ovulation tests(OPKs) and got positives, but I found out later that people with PCOS get false positives with OPKs. My temps were not showing any ovulation, so I wasn't very hopeful.
I got my bloodwork results today and the doctor said that my progesterone level was 1.4 which is really low and definitely means I did not ovulate. So the plan of action is to take the progesterone again to induce my period and do another cycle of Clomid. This time I'm being bumped up to 100mg. The scary part is that he said if this doesn't work in the next couple of cycles, I will move onto injectables!!!!!
That's all for now, I'll keep you guys posted.
