Noah is 7 weeks and some days old (sorry, it's been too long since I've updated). I had my first REAL breastfeeding problem, or at least I think it's a breastfeeding problem. On Friday, I felt very run down and tired and I chalked it up to just being a busy mom. Later in the night, I started feeling even worse...very dizzy, light-headed, achy, etc. I took my temperature and it was 99.2, not really that high, but slightly elevated. So David suggested I take a bath. I swear that water must have been 110 degrees but I was shivering the whole time. After I got out, I thought my whole body was going to give way, so I pumped and went to bed (at 8pm). David (being the wonderful husband and daddy that he is) took care of Noah so I could get some rest.
My self-diagnosis is something called Mastitis, or a breast infection. My right boob has been feeling very sore and painful and now it's swollen and has red marks all over it (sorry for too much information). That mixed with my flu-like symptoms has lead me to this diagnosis. Sadly the treatment is really just rest, relaxation and lots of breastfeeding. I've been trying to do that today, but also get ready for the baptism tomorrow. I'm sure I will survive and the several doses of Tylenol have helped so far. I'll update everyone tomorrow on how the baptism goes.
